Probably because most plush artists are like myself: we have some skills, some quirky ideas, our own style, but it's still a daily battle with the medium to get your ideas to develop into 3-D plushy reality from the sketch or idea you intially had. And what you produce is reasonable, you're not ashamed of it (hey sometimes you're even proud!) but still a nagging little voice in the back of your mind doesn't let you fall back on your laurels and is always prompting you to keep trying to get better.
Yeah well Robyn, in my humble opinion, is there. Her work so perfectly echoes the illustrations she creates, or her 2-D style for want of a better word. A lot of technically great plush artists don't always have the same range of ideas and vibrant sense of humour that Robyn's does. But Robyn's work has it all, methinks, both in terms of imagery, mastery of the form, humour, quirkiness and individuality. When I grow up as a plush artists i wanna be just like her!
Anyway, this gushing is just embaressing. Check her work out for yourself and you'll see!
